The clouds over the last several months has not abated. They swirl and threaten me still as I take refuge and stare into them, trying to find some photon of comforting light. There have been flickers, but none large enough to warm me. Recently though, I had a joyous and sunny breakthrough. I’ve been lifted by these three things…
1. Get 👏🏾that 👏🏾money👏🏾
Let’s be real, money doesn’t quite buy happiness, but it is a conduit for comfort and opportunity in a capitalist society where we trade life force for the money that will keep us housed and in the finest fast fashion. The idea that you can be happy with no money dismisses the many consequences someone can face from their inability to put up the funds and the stress it puts on relationships including with self. We are collectively clawing our way to some semblance of a decent life while still in a student debt crisis where younger generations have given up on the dreams of manicured lawns because it’s not conceivable. We have had to find new dreams that are more accessible and challenge what’s worth our time and coin investment.
