I mean, I chose the story like you asked, but I need option D, all of the above. Or option E, combine all 3 somehow (though I have no idea how!).

Last year I wrote something in excess of 80,000 words for NaNoWriMo, so it's absolutely possible, even with life getting in the way. My trick? Don't edit. Don't go back and reread anything yet. All forward momentum, no brakes, full throttle, always say yes, and never question that the word or phrase you picked is wrong. It's not. After all, December is for editing.

Hahaha! Can you imagine that saga?!

80,000 is quite a feat. Congrats on that. Editing is a great way to get stalled to thanks for reiterating that. I’ll probably spend part of December on a brain break. 😅

I should seriously consider quitting my job and writing full time. 😂😂

Thanks for the mention. I'm neck-deep in preparing for NaNoWriMo. Lots of outlining. Lots of character work. Lots of thinking, "But what does she do THEN?"

She calls her dad because she accidentally joined a cult!

I’m sure once that scaffolding is in, you’ll be off to the races. Good luck!

I think Mousetrap is the one. But whichever you choose,I hope the rollercoaster is fun. I hope it's multiple rides, with a few stops at the literary concession stand to try something you've never sampled before.

You will be my reader for that one and if not now, then at some point, they’ll be a dedication to you.

This one, I imagined to need an ensemble cast of eccentrics whose histories have to bend and stretch. Perhaps their motives would change. It would be a great composition for sure.

Ensemble that large might be too tough at the NaNo pace. I'd go for one with a smaller cast. You can always tackle Mousetrap later. And I'll be thrilled to read it.

I picked 'Life for rent' it sounds intriguing and I want to know what the clever stand-in will pull.

I also need a lot of preparation for next month, want to read a couple of books for research and work on outlines. Let's do this!!

🥳 We can do it!

If I write a good character sketch, maybe the stand-in will tell me!

Very exciting. I voted for Life for Rent. I like the premise and the idea of the unintended consequences of detaching. It seems like a great idea, right? But what happens when you really disengage. Good luck to you!

Good luck!!! I've never done NaNoWriMo but I've done a series of the #1000 words stints. Anything that keeps you writing every day is gold. Cheering you on!

Thank you! Sprints would definitely be good prep, as it takes over 1500 per day to meet your goal.

My best advice, from the one time I “won”: when you hit a scene where everything feels truly bad and you can’t figure out how fix it in a hurry, just skip to the next part of your outline. The problem will still be there in December and you can fix it then. Good luck!

Ah yes! As you go along, some things work themselves out anyway. Good advice. Thank you.

I vote Mousetrap!!

They all look like they'd be fun to write about, but if I had to chose one, I'd say Mousetrap.

Last time I attempted NaNo, I spent October doing research (it was a Downton Abbey fan fic novel) and the reading up on the British upper and aristocratic classes from the Victorian and Edwardian eras was actually really interesting. Good luck!
